Ellie Jane Goulding was born in Hereford England on December 30 1986. Tracey Goulding Summers was her mother and Arthur Goulding belonged to a family of undertakers. Goulding is the second child and is a sister named Alex and a sister who is older named Isabel as well as a sister named Jordan. Alex is her brother who plays bass in the Hereford group. Her mother was a big advocate for her musical pursuits as a kid. Clarinet was her first instrument at the age of nine. She began to write herself songs around 14 years old, however it wasn't until she was in college that she really pursued songwriting. Goulding's interest in electronica music began when she was in the process of completing her college degree. Through MySpace she made contact with the record producer Frankmusik and, with the help of Frankmusik she developed her own style of folktronica music. Jamie Lillywhite noticed her and became her manager. Later, he took on the role of A.&R during a talent show.
